Amazing Alaska Itinerary

We have travelled for three years around the world but we have never visited Alaska. We know – shame on us! This map shows the planning behind our upcoming trip to Alaska. We used many web sites and coalesced the points of interest onto this map. The Google icons are self-explanatory but the waterfall icon was also used for glaciers. Well glaciers are frozen waterfalls!

Point of Interest Names have a Rating Suffix (max 5 pts) from Google and some have a Ranking Prefix (1 to 15) from 15 of the most beautiful places in Alaska. Some of the other sites used were 21 Best Alaska Destinations and Lonely Planet.

There is a meaning behind the colours of the icons: dark red is a five-star sight (must-see); orange, extremely good (must-see); yellow, very good… and blue is an unrated points of interest.  Black is used for the ferry terminals. Click the [ ] icon to see expanded view of the interactive map.
