Derry is a large city with a compact tourist area surrounded by the only walled city in Ireland and the last one to be built in Europe. It is also the place to connect with the causes and events of the Troubles. Unless you were born after 1998, you were immersed in the problems and violence of Northern Ireland vicariously through the news.
